Cobourg’s new director of community services is ready to bring great experience to the small town.
Brian Geerts, who has a combined decade of experience in parks and horticulture, recreation, facilities management and extensive operational experience as a public sector professional in Cambridge and Brantford, will take office on 7 February. Most recently, Geerts was the acting Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture for the City of Cambridge.
“I am thrilled to join this professional team in such a great community,” says Geerts. “I look forward to working with the community to ensure everyone has access to meaningful opportunities and experiences, as we work together towards our common goals.”
In his new role, Geerts will be responsible for planning, developing and implementing programs and activities that support the community and the priorities of the Town of Cobourg.
“Mr. Geerts has a deep understanding of parks, recreation and community programs, and brings to this role a passion for community engagement and development and improving business operations that will serve Cobourg well,” said Tracey Vaughan , administrative director of the municipality.
The new Director of Community Services is currently completing his Certified Municipal Officer designation and brings to this position a Masters in Public Administration, Ecosystem Management Technician, and Project Management Professional certifications.
