Loaves & Fishes Community Services expands access to food through local grocery delivery

Above / Loaves & Fishes Community Services, with administrative offices in Naperville, has partnered with DoorDash’s DASH project to expand access to food through local grocery delivery.

Mike Havala, President and CEO of Loaves & Fishes

Loaves & Fishes Community Services is delighted to announce its partnership with DoorDash’s DASH Project to offer families in need the possibility of having their groceries ordered from Loaves & Fishes delivered directly to their homes for free. Due to lack of transportation or mobility issues, many families struggle to get the help they need.

Loaves & Fishes has seen its needs increase by 60% since the start of 2022 and now serves more than 5,000 people per week. The negative effects of high inflation are felt disproportionately by low-income households, who spend almost all of their income on housing, transportation and food.

“We are extremely excited to partner with DoorDash to provide healthy groceries to families in need, especially those who have significant barriers to accessing healthy foods. This program with DoorDash, coupled with our new online ordering system and platform, is a game changer for many people,” said Mike Havala, President and CEO of Loaves & Fishes. “Customers can order food from the Loaves & Fishes online marketplace and select DoorDash’s delivery option.”

“We are honored to partner with Loaves & Fishes Community Services to expand access to food in Illinois,” added Brittany Graunke, Director of DoorDash Drive. “Local delivery has helped food banks and pantries deliver food and other essentials to their customers in a convenient way that emphasizes dignity. We are excited to continue to grow this work in a sustainable way for our food bank and pantry partners across the country and continue to meet ongoing needs.

DoorDash’s Project DASH enables food banks, food pantries and other social impact organizations to leverage DoorDash logistics to increase access in their communities.

Since its inception, Project DASH has fueled over 2 million deliveries in the United States and Canada with over 35 million meals delivered. Organizations interested in partnering with DoorDash’s DASH Project can register here.
