Templeton Community Service District named ‘District of Distinction’

District recognized for sound budget management policies and practices in district operations

– Templeton Community Service District has been awarded “District of Distinction” accreditation by the Special District Leadership Foundation (SDLF) for sound financial management policies and practices in district operations.

“The SDLF provides an independent audit review of the last three years of district operations to ensure prudent tax practices,” said SDLF Chief Executive Neil McCormick. The committee members who review the audits are volunteers from the district’s special community, including district comptrollers, chief financial officers, and certified general managers.

In addition, district board and executive staff must also demonstrate educational training in public governance, as well as ethics compliance and harassment prevention training. In addition, to receive recognition, the district’s website must include posting of transparency requirements, including election procedures and timelines, posted council meeting schedules and agendas, the current budget of the district, the most recent financial audit, and a list of compensation for board members and staff or a link to the state comptroller’s web page with the data.

The mission of the Templeton CSD is “to provide the community with water, sewer, fire, parks, recreation, waste, lighting and drainage services with the highest possible degree of cost effectiveness, efficiency and customer service”.

SDLF is an independent, nonprofit organization created to promote good governance and best practices among special districts in California through certification, credentialing, and other recognition programs.
