The Town of Edmonds is hiring an interim director of community services and economic development

Doug Merriman

The Town of Edmonds has hired Doug Merriman for the contract position of Acting Director of Community Services and Economic Development.

Merriman recently retired from serving as city administrator for the town of Sedro-Woolley. Previously, he spent more than 20 years with the City of Oak Harbor in the roles of City Administrator, Deputy City Administrator and Chief Financial Officer. He holds a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Science from Walden University.

“I am delighted to welcome Doug into this role to meet our ongoing needs while we are in the hiring process for a permanent placement. He brings a wealth of experience to the department,” Mayor Mike Nelson said.

Patrick Doherty retired from the city at the end of 2021 after seven years as the city’s director of community services and economic development. Recruitment of a permanent director is underway, the city said. The mayor will appoint a new director, subject to confirmation by the city council.
